Dixie Electric was established in 1968 and was originally called Dixie Electric Rebuilders. Ltd. The company was to be located in the Dixie Road transportation district in Toronto were the company's name was derived. The company today is located in Concord, Ontario with additional facilities in Shanghai, China and Pune, India. Over the years the company has gone from a rebuilder of electrical components to a supplier of both new components and complete units. Their research into the reasons for electrical failures and methods to test for these problems has spun off an entirely new business, D & V Electronics, which is a world leader in the manufacturing of test equipment for both components and finished units for rotating electrical products.
All of the Dixie facilities are ISO9001 certified with the Shanghai facility attaining the more rigorous TS16949 certification. This focus on quality and a scientific approach to the causes and identification of electrical failures has enabled Dixie to become one of the largest indepent suppliers of both new and remanufactured electrical products in the world. Besides supplying product to the traditional aftermarket, Dixie has been very successful supplying service parts to many major OEM's.
They have been able to accomplish this by supplying both remanufactured and in many cases entirely new product supplied off of our tooling.
Dixie developed these new products originally as a means of providing customers with remanufacured products. In the past many suppliers either did not supply replacement parts or the quality was so poor, it became a necessity to produce our own component parts. As more and more components became available from our own sourcing, it became a viable option to produce new products off of our own tooling. In all cases the quality of these units is equal if not better than original manufacturer.
